I'm a writer/thinker whose focus is the relationship between pop culture, media and individuality. Most recent work has been for Playboy, EnRoute (Air Canada in-flight magazine), CBC Radio (host of 8 part series on subcultures), Geist Magazine and the Globe and Mail.
I am also the founder, former editor and current publisher and fiction editor of Broken Pencil: The magazine of zine culture and the independent arts.

I've been an ongoing contributor to CBC Radio since 1996, contributing to various shows including a regular column on underground media for Brave New Waves. In the summer of 2007 I was host of Subcultures, an 8 part series exploring the nature of subculture communities including Body Modifiers, Cryptozoologists, Furries and more.
