  • Project Manager (Contract)

    May 2008June 2009 (1 year 2 months)

    Led and managed a number of medium sized Business projects across multiple products, departments and regions across Canada.

    • Assigned as lead Project Manager for an extremely aggressive Organizational Design Project that involved managing over 90 people with 30 separate deliverables including the implementation of a new G/L hierarchy and restating 3 months of history within a 2 month time frame. As stated by the Project Sponsor “We made the impossible possible!”
    • Completed a number of Business projects on time, on budget and on scope including: payment of yearend commissions to brokers, integration of the finance function for a purchased company and a government tax refund initiative.
    • Gained appreciation (and experience) for working on the Business side for an Insurance company while leveraging my coaching and IT experience to navigate this large corporation.
    • Introduced project governance processes for running Business projects outside of the CPO.

  • Senior IT Manager - Project Delivery

    November 2004May 2006 (1 year 7 months)

    Led and managed a team of over 40 information technology professionals including systems analysts, technical leads, system developers, contractors, vendors and off-shore developers.

    Responsible for all project delivery activities for CIBC mortgage brand across a number of technology platforms including mainframe, AS/400, UNIX and windows.

    Includes applications developed in COBOL, Image/Workflow, Java, C++, Visual Basic, .NET, Websphere and SQL.

    • Implemented a high profile governance project utilizing in-house and off-shore development resources, within a very tight time frame, over a 6 month period.
    • Involved with the Integrated Lending Platform project to improve the businesses ability to deliver mortgages to their clients.
    • Rolled out project off-shoring to reduce costs and decrease time to delivery.

  • Senior IT Manager - Mortgage Base and Business Continuity

    CIBC

    (Public Company; CM; Banking industry)

    November 2001October 2004 (3 years )

    Led and managed configuration managers, technical leads, system analysts, business analysts and developers to deliver steady state support activities for 28 applications across AS/400, Unix and Windows.

    Key activities included preventative maintenance, critical defects, production support, business services, IT services, business continuity, QC support, configuration management and transitions of projects to steady state.

    • Recognized for production support capability – received quarterly team achievers award for recovering AS/400 application from hardware failure over a 72 hour period.
    • Developer Access to Production Project – audit of production access required by development to provide application support.
    • Operational Efficiency Review – quality review of structural weaknesses, recoverability and process accountability for 2 key applications.
    • Founder and Chairman of Leadership Users Group – where we regularly discussed leadership ideas and issues.
    • Established off-shoring model for base enhancements to reduce costs.

  • Partner - Chief Operating Officer

    (Partnership; 1-10 employees; Computer Hardware industry)

    July 2001April 2003 (1 year 10 months)

    Entrepreneurial venture to provide quality personal computers and support services. Responsible to lead the partnership as well as marketing, finance and human resources.

  • IT Manager - AS/400 Development

    (Public Company; CM; Banking industry)

    October 1998October 2001 (3 years 1 month)

    Assembled and led a development team of systems analysts, business analysts and developers to support the mortgage servicing application Excalibur (formerly known as Plexus, now Optimus – owned by Marlborough Stirling).

  • Advisory Systems Developer - Team Lead AS/400 Development

    July 1996September 1998 (2 years 3 months)

    While traveling between Toronto and Vancouver, developed foundational leadership skills by leading the systems customization and implementation of the new mortgage servicing application (Excalibur).

    Responsible for applying the business enhancements and to integrate this AS/400 COBOL application into the existing banking infrastructure.
