I was in charge of Keynote's Streaming Media group which was formed after the acquisition of Streamcheck, a company I co-founded in 2000. We expanded our measurement network, rolled out a major upgrade of the service, grew revenue considerably, added lots of top name clients, etc. Keynote's measurement network has 2400 devices and records 100 million measurements per day related to internet performace. (Learned a lot and met some great people, but it wasn't as exciting as running a start-up.)

Streamcheck provides a web-based service that measures the quality and reliability of streaming media delivery. A network of computers, located in cities around the world, simulates a dispersed audience and gives you an end-user perspective of streaming quality. What's the connection success rate? How long does it take to connect? How long to buffer? etc.
The service continues today, operated by Keynote Systems (KEYN) under the label "Streaming Perspective". It remains the industry standard for streaming metrics.

I created EPC's key software product. SpecView was an interactive Windows-based tool for designing Fiber Bragg Gratings. (FBGs are a passive component in fiber optic networks, used for wavelength shaping.) EPC was eventually bought by JDS Uniphase. Learned that I like startups.
