I misspent my youth by sitting in front of a computer and developing bad posture. The happy side-effect of this is that I have this knack for solving difficult technical problems with wit and aplomb.
These days, I hack on software for fun and profit. When I find the time, I develop and maintain various pieces of free software. That is, alongside the social functions that I throw.
I enjoy going to conferences and talking about the stuff I do. Someday, I want to become a professor. But secretly, I long to be a professional philanthropist.
problem groking, problem solving, philosophizing, architecting software, designing software, refactoring software, throwing dinner parties, building automated testing frameworks, building build systems, interdisciplinary thinking, performing root cause analysis, exercising tact, writing eloquently, administrating systems, administrating networks, pleasantries, saying "no", saying "yes", demanding usability, setting priorities, managing people, winning friends, boosting morale, looking cute

B.A.Sc , Computer Engineering , September 1999 — April 2004
I graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering, specialising in Software Engineering. What this really meant was that I spent most of my electives learning that we don't know how to write reliable software.
To counteract this, I went to a lot of trouble to expand my horizons. I read philosophy, anthropology, and sociology. I dabbled in systems administration. And typesetting a newspaper. I met people, had tea, dressed up, dressed down, and threw dinner parties.
It was glorious.
