Rob Russell’s Experience

  • Associate Project Manager and Principal Consultant

    Keane

(Privately Held; 10,001 or more employees; KEA; Information Technology and Services industry)

    November 2003Present (6 years 2 months)

In this role, I took leadership of a new team to augment Morgan Stanley’s existing Remote Command Monitoring Centre in Halifax. By basing a new team in Markham, we were able to leverage the labour arbitrage and resourcing advantages of two locations, provide better business continuity resiliency and provide a near-shore remote management pilot project to prove the feasibility of future overseas expansion.

In addition to building a new team in a new facility, this project also entailed transitioning in a new line of business and taking over support for a new set of applications. This new set of Prime Brokerage Custody applications required liaising with customer-based subject matter experts, coordination of onsite training, and construction of a new support toolset.

  • Principal Consultant w/Keane

    Morgan Stanley

(Public Company; 10,001 or more employees; MS; Venture Capital & Private Equity industry)

    October 2003Present (6 years 3 months)

My Prime Brokerage Custody (Client STP - Straight Through Processing) support team provides operational troubleshooting and outage management for the Morgan Stanley Prime Brokerage Custody service delivery application set. These applications manage financial accounts containing hundreds of billions of dollars in multi-asset, multi-currency investments. We integrate the entire trade cycle, preventing the inconsistencies that result when separate margin, portfolio, clearance and custody, and risk management systems all feed position information to clients.

  • Product Analyst

    N-Able Technologies

(Privately Held; 51-200 employees; Computer Networking industry)

    July 2001May 2003 (1 year 11 months)

In discussions with the existing clientbase of Nitrosoft Linux, I designed and constructed the first several versions of what was to become N-central, the network monitoring and management flagship product of N-able Technologies. This product was to become so successful that Nitrosoft rebranded itself as N-able Technologies and entered the Application Service Provider marketspace, where it has now become profitable

  • Senior Systems Analyst

    Nitrosoft Linux

(Privately Held; 51-200 employees; Computer Software industry)

    July 2000July 2001 (1 year 1 month)

As the most senior member of Nitrosoft’s leading Linux Professional Services team, I balanced my pre-sales and solutions design role with leadership responsibilities within the team. My enthusiasm and technical credibility were instrumental in landing the top 50% of Nitrosoft’s sales. I took the initiative to implement a training program for the sales and marketing teams with a dramatic effect on their ability to identify, target and pitch key customers, and also more easily recognize potential professional services revenue opportunities.

  • Senior Computing Systems Manager

    Canadian Internet Broadcasting Network

(Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Internet industry)

    May 1999July 2000 (1 year 3 months)

Privileged with the opportunity to be the first hire at an ambitious startup, reporting directly to the principals, I built the entire corporate infrastructure; from furniture and telephones to load-balanced high-availability server clusters with geographic hot-failover. I rolled out Canada’s largest commercial instant-messaging network in 2000, including the supporting web and internet services.
