Rick Norland’s Summary

- Eirsen Health Care will franchise the home health care concept and systems developed by Retire-At-Home in Ottawa since 1994.

- Since 1996, I have supported 14 startups, nine of which were VC-backed, six from the point of founding. Among the newly founded companies, I have co-founded four of them.

- I have participated in over 50 successful financial transactions, ranging from $50,000 to over $350 million, including private equity deals, IPOs, debt placements, and M&A transactions.

- My interests in understanding how to evaluate and then to pursue market opportunities have led me into many sector development efforts in Ottawa and elsewhere, and both as a volunteer and as a consultant. The common themes of these activities are a focus on high technology (ICT and life sciences) entrepreneurs on the one side, and Angel and venture capital communities on the other.

- I received an MBA and Bachelor of Engineering Science Degrees from The University of Western Ontario. Other accreditation includes both as a Professional Engineer and a Chartered Business Valuator. I am also an Accredited Associate of the Institute for Independent Business, a qualification for trusted business advisors to private companies.

Rick Norland’s Specialties:

My interest is actually being a part of the companies' start up team. Eirsen Health Care is my fourth company founding and, with a franchising model, will allow me to support the "company founding" of each franchisee. Before this, I co-founded three companies, been part of two other foundings, and a further eight startups. Of the 14 firms, 9 have been VC-backed. Industry interests are broad: telecom, photonics, IT networking, and biotech.
