Ralph Haenel - Your Kung Fu Coach™,
learning and teaching Wing Tsun Kung Fu since 1984
Changing lives, one punch at a time.
There is a difference between martial arts and self-defense? Forget about learning flying kicks a la Jackie Chan! And don’t imagine that you’re a dead duck when attacked because you are too small, too weak, too young or too clumsy to evade a rapist, robber or murderer.
According to self-defense expert Ralph Haenel, a real-life attack does not include the referee, time-outs, rules and fairness that people become accustomed to when approaching martial arts as a sport.
Haenel, author of the book, “The Reality of Self-Defense! What martial arts schools won't tell you.” offers journalists a free 70-page Media Kit with complete 'copy & paste' ready guidelines that explain how people of any age, size or physical ability can prevent attacks and escape from harm when threatened.
Self-Defense Expert Ralph Haenel, dubbed 'Anthony Robbins of Self-Defense Instruction', introduces a media kit with seventy pages chockfull of information and newsworthy angles. Go to www.selfdefenseexpertformedia.com

Back then only two WingTsun schools were operating in West Berlin. Breaking new ground, Ralph started the first groups and schools in the Eastern part of the city, the former capital of East Germany, after only months earlier the 'Iron Wall' had come crumbling down. The schools were WingTsun Berlin Friedrichshain, Wing Tsun Berlin Treptow and Wing Tsun Berlin Hohenschoenhausen.
After having lived and worked for a while in Switzerland, Ralph had the pleasure to coach in his classes members of the former East German Olympic Team of gymnasts, among them 1980 gold medalist Maxi Gnauck.
He furthermore started and supported Wing Tsun schools in Suhl, Coswig, Meissen, Stendal, Neustadt-Glewe, Rathenow and other cities.

May 1984 — August 1988 (4 years 4 months)
Ralph started the very first Wing Tsun schools in the former German Democratic Republic (GDR, East Germany) in Rostock, Schwerin, Berlin, Neustadt-Glewe and several other cities.
Certified Trainer , Wing Tsun Kung Fu, WingTsun-ChiKung, Latosa-Escrima, Self-defense , 1990 — 1994
Ralph joined for several years seminars throughout Europe, following his Sifu and Sigung to Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and England.
Trainer , Wing Tsun Kung Fu, Escrima, Self-defense , 1984 — 1988
During the "East German" years Ralph received extensive personal instruction from highly qualified teachers who visited him, crossing the 'Iron Curtain' from the West, disguised as tourists.
Certified Trainer , Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Self-defense , 1978 — 1982
Ralph had the pleasure to learn directly from Sensei Johannes Trybull and also from many members of his trainer team in one of the very few clubs, that existed back then in East Germany. Johannes Trybull (1908-1986), a highly decorated World War II veteran, started to learn Jiu-Jitsu during the late 1920's in Yokohama, Japan.
---> Interesting Fact: Not just following a recent trend; No, already in the 1970's did this Jiu-Jitsu school actively include a variety of kettlebell exercises, also as quite a "full-contact" partner training. Decades earlier, in the 1910's, 1920's, kettlebell training was quite popular in athletic clubs in Germany.
