Volunteer
Uncles & Aunts at Large - Edmonton
2006 – 2010 (4 years)
A group of like minded male friends and I wanted to give back to our community, and decided we all felt that by working with 'troubled' kids, our efforts would be leveraged as they then went on to lead better lives and improve those they touched.
We started our group - Youth for Mutual Improvement (YMI), and the group is currently ongoing still without me now. We spent time and organized events twice per month, with a group of 5-10 boys aged 8-12.
After hearing feedback from single moms that their children were doing better in school, not getting into trouble, and just generally happier, we all felt a great sense of pride. I tremendously enjoyed, and felt honoured, to have been a part of helping these boys lives to improve and our world better as a result.
Member Services Committee
Realtors Association of Edmonton
Real Estate industry
2006 – 2008 (2 years)
I was graciously elected by my colleagues to represent the over 3000 Realtor members in Edmonton for a two year term. The members services committee was at the time over 30 members, and consisted of policy decision making, and qualification of issues brought forward to the Association from Realtor members. It was a great experience, and I enjoyed being part of a larger board, and organization.
