Communications Lead at Tucows/OpenSRS
Toronto, Canada Area
I'm currently working as Communications Lead at Tucows Inc. in Toronto, Canada. My role is primarily related to product communications. That includes, but is far from limited to: marketing, blogging, screencast production, customer outreach and communications, website maintenance and deployment and anything else that they throw at me from day to day.
I bring more than fifteen years of film and television experience to the table, along with a wide range of expertise in everything from xHTML/CSS, to video production and editing, audio production and graphic design. A post-graduate diploma in journalism from Humber College rounds out my "suite" of media expertise and demonstrates my skills as a writer.
I happily admit to being an information and news junkie. I'm keenly aware of what's going on around me, and around the world. Technology, social networking/media, news, politics...if it's happening, chances are I'm already trying to find out more about it.

April 2007 — Present (2 years 9 months)
I'm something of a jack of all trades in media and communications. An average day might include blogging, video and/or audio production, website design and maintenance, and brand reputation monitoring with a healthy dose of copy writing and PR on top.

September 2006 — April 2007 (8 months)
I sat in the audio editor's chair at 680 News in Toronto. I cut sound, wrote stories, conducted phone interviews, took tip calls, and pretty much tried to be an integral part of "keeping up" in the fast paced environment of a live, 24-hour, major market all-news radio station.

June 2004 — September 2006 (2 years 4 months)
A bit of everything from film transfers, to media encoding, to HD down/up/cross conversions and dubbing.
(Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Motion Pictures and Film industry)
September 1996 — October 2003 (7 years 2 months)
Ran the tape room for a few years. At one point there were 13 operators working under me. Solved problems, researched and recommended new gear, and made sure everything ran smoothly.

September 1993 — September 1996 (3 years 1 month)
Managed standards conversions from NTSC to PAL and back. All proprietary stuff. At the time, Image was the best at what they did. It's now a part of Deluxe.
