Submitted and monitored jobs on the mainframe (IBM TSO) and servers, Monitored over 1400 servers (Windows, UNIX and Linux) and the network.

• Monitoring system consoles and responding to alerts and messages.

• Performing first level diagnosis, escalating and updating Service Centre incident records. Monitoring Service Centre is done on a minute to minute basis.

• Providing off hours and weekend Service Desk (Help Desk) support. Recording, Problem solving and if needed, escalating problems to support teams.

• Facilitating Security management including logon ID administration, changing and resetting passwords under VPN (Virtual Private Network) and Active Directory.

• Utilising UNIX archive job stream submissions and management via Tivoli workload scheduler. During the week days Tivoli workload scheduler is automated and monitored on minute by minute basis. During the week-ends it is strictly a manual process, because of system upgrading and it is still monitored on minute by minute basis.

• Maintaining the daily operation of the magnetic tape libraries by accurately recording, verifying and preparing tapes for shipment to and from offsite locations.

• Performing daily audit of offsite tape archive to ensure accurate inventory.

• Providing physical security support to Data Centre and security monitoring systems.

• Creating and maintaining daily run-logs and checklists for all host mainframe (IBM TSO) jobs being processed on a daily basis.

• Providing onsite support in critical areas when required, including rebooting hardware, running cables, checking logs and console screens.

Accomplishments

• Merged and streamlined checklists to eliminate missed items / processes.

• Assisted the Data Centre Specialists to meet their deadlines, e.g. laying cables (CAT-5E, CAT-6 and fibre optic), wiring up the patch panels, cabinets and installing servers.

Edited and submitted JCL on BMO and Symcor mainframes (IBM TSO) and sent backup tapes to an offsite facility.

• Audited the checklists which were not in chronological order, confusing or out-of-date, with processes that were no longer being used, and deleted them, making them easier to follow.

Processed customer data for regular day to day print and web presentment. Conducted order reconciliation after processing and then created new orders.

Accomplishments
• Rewrote Night-shift manuals for greater accuracy and clarity. As new processes came into effect, new procedures were written.
• Created macros with Excel that sped up the processes from seven to less than one minute to complete.
• This function grew from one person to five during this period.

Worked in a team environment and occasionally worked alone, prioritizing print jobs to meet critical deadlines using IBM TSO.

Accomplishments
• Updated checklists along with the forms list.
• Created a printer floor plan that would allow more printers to be added without necessarily adding staff, when Symcor was planning to move its Print Operation to Mississauga.
