I am a registered urban planner by background, now leading a great venture that combines the conservation of forestry land with the creation of small communities on gorgeous sites in Canada. Living Forest Communities acquires land to do limited development in conjunction with one or more conservation NGOs. We use principles of sustainable development and sustainable forestry to create cool communities and prevent the clear-cutting or fragmentation of the forest.The business model is as follows:

We acquire forest land on Vancouver Island and southern BC and place a restrictive covenant on 85% of the land for sustainable forestry and value-added manufacturing. On the remaining 15% of the land, we cluster the density from the whole parcel, then plan, subdivide, develop and sell building sites for homes.These building sites are situated around natural features and amenities.

We currently are rezoning 1,000 acres of land, located within 45 minutes of downtown Victoria BC, for 90 water and mountain view homes. 850 acres of land will be retained as FSC certified eco-forestry and conservation, covenanted by a reputable land trust agency. Surrounded by lakes, streams, ponds, garden meadows and forested mountains, the home sites are designed as part of a European styled hamlet to create a conservation community.
