PhD Candidate, Information Systems - Seeking healthcare informatics & technology opportunities in Waterloo, Canada
Kitchener, Canada Area
I design and evaluate information systems and work processes to enhance computerized collaboration, accessibility to information, and data-driven workflow in healthcare and telecommunications applications.
I have extensive experience in the field working directly with practitioners; gaining first-hand understanding of their challenges, and involving them in solutions development and evaluation. I have also co-authored 4 journal papers, 7 conference proceedings, and given 6 talks at human factors and medical informatics venues.
My passion is innovating at the interface of technology and end-users to maximize collaboration and productivity.
MySQL, PHP, Javascript, Visual Basic, VBA, Visio, Flex, Flash; user experience, interface design, information visualization, user-centered design, task analysis, time motion analysis, user requirements gathering, rapid prototyping, eye-tracking <-------------> Applications: healthcare information systems, health informatics, telehealth, homecare, human computer interaction, databases, data warehouse, industrial automation, mobile workforce, GIS, groupware, real-time collaboration (all platforms)

January 2006 — Present (4 years )
My dissertation explores collaborative computing based on extensive study of the healthcare setting to develop new models of communication and knowledge transfer in collaboration activity. Findings shall yield innovative techniques for user requirements gathering to support design of future collaboration systems (e.g. Cisco Telepresence, Polycom teleconference, mobile collaboration with iPhone and RIM Blackberry, etc.).
