Pulse Energy Management Software communicates with a large number of building automation and metering systems to collect, archive, analyze and communicate energy information. The system helps building owners and operators quickly identify and resolve inefficient energy use, helps occupants learn how their buildings perform and ultimately helps to save money and reduce emissions.
From a technical perspective this entails integrating with existing meters and building automation systems to collect and send real-time meter data to the archival and analytics engine we've written. Looking at past building performance and taking into consideration existing factors such as temperature, time of year and wind speed and direction we are able to predict how a building should be performing and alert operators when certain thresholds of comfort or energy consumption are surpassed. We can visualize the historical data and predictions in many different ways for different audiences including building occupants, facility managers and executives focused on sustainability and reducing energy costs.

I took an extended leave of absence from Orbitz in 2007 to pursue two adventures I had been planning for several years:
Exploring Patagonia: From January through May I explored South America and particularly the region south of the 39th parallel known as Patagonia. My activities included:
- An expedition to climb Mt. Aconcagua
- Trekking in Torres del Paine
- Backpacking in Tierra del Fuego
- Walking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
- Seeing the Moai on Easter Island
- Visiting friends and experiencing new cultures
Riding the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route: From May through August I pedaled a mountain bike with a trailer and my good friend Willy Vancrey. We began in Antelope Wells, New Mexico and followed the Continental Divide through the Rocky Mountains until over 3,100 miles later we reached Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada in late August.
You can find more details about my travels in South America and the bicycle ride at http://www.rideabout.com.
